Katharina Lehmann makes canvas from yarn and acrylic paint by walking zigzags across the floor of her studio. This unique method produces material that forms the basis of all her works. Lehmann’s art takes the viewer into a world where the primitive and the natural merge with industrial influences, as fragile, lace-like patterns blend into the social issues of our time.

Katharina Lehmann and her partner Yasin Sarfraz, who paints large-scale, expressive works, created new works during their month-long working period at Villa Nelimarka at the Nelimarkka Museum. The works are inspired by the villa’s special lighting conditions, tones and the distinctive colours of the Southern Ostrobothnia landscape. The peaceful surroundings of the place, far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, provided the perfect environment for immersing yourself in focused artistic work. Katharina and Yasin look forward to your visit and warmly invite you to an inspiring exchange of ideas.

Welcome to introduce Katharina and Yasin to their art! Interpretation is available at the event.
