Thomas C. Chung – Let’s make art together!

Free art workshop for children and those with a child's mind

29.11.2024

Welcome to the art workshop led by Thomas C. Chung at the Nelimarkka Museum this Friday from 2-4 pm. You will need yourself and a creative and curious mind. Thomas will give each participant a small, crocheted gift. The museum lecturer may interpret.

The visual artist participating in the Nelimarkka Museum’s residency program in November-December is Thomas C. Chung, a Chinese-Australian contemporary artist who lives in Helsinki, Melbourne and Sydney.

Chung is already familiar with working residencies for artists. He has visited artist residencies in Kemijärvi, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Zurich and Sapporo, among others. This year, before coming to Alajärvi, Chung also had time to visit the Pro Artibus Foundation’s Korppoo archipelago residence.

Over the past decade, Chung has represented Australia at the 2nd Land Art Biennale in Mongolia, the 4th Ghetto Biennale in Haiti, the 9th Shiryaevo Biennale in Russia, the 1st Karachi Biennale in Pakistan and the APS Mdina Cathedral Biennale of Contemporary Art in Malta. Chung’s work is in many private and public collections, including the National Art Museum of Mongolia, the Sofia Arsenal – Museum of Contemporary Art and the Swatch Group.
